Bioware Corp.

BioWare is an electronic entertainment company specializing in creating computer and console video games. BioWare's vision is to deliver the best story-driven games in the world. Founded in 1995, BioWare Corp. is a privately owned Canadian corporation based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk are Joint CEOs at BioWare, as well as the Co-Executive Producers of BioWare's games. In September 2003, BioWare announced Jade Empireâ„¢, a martial arts action role-playing game based on a new BioWare-owned intellectual property, to be published by Microsoft Game Studios for the Xbox video game system in April 2005. In May 2004, BioWare announced Dragon Ageâ„¢, a fantasy role-playing game based on a new BioWare-owned intellectual property. BioWare is also developing a third, as-yet-unannounced (as of March 2005) original intellectual property. BioWare's Technology Architecture Group is also developing a next-generation engine project, the BioWare Eclipse Engineâ„¢ for console and PC. BioWare's online community has nearly 2.4 million registered users at www.bioware.com. On November 10, 2004, BioWare launched the BioWare Online Store at store.bioware.com, an Internet-based marketplace where consumers can purchase BioWare-related products. Over the past decade BioWare's games have sold more than 12 million copies. BioWare also licenses its game engine technology: the BioWare Infinity Engineâ„¢, which has powered a number of critically acclaimed role-playing games like Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale, Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter, and Icewind Dale II; the BioWare Aurora Engineâ„¢, which will power the upcoming Neverwinter Nights 2 from Obsidian Entertainment and Atari; and the BioWare Odyssey Engineâ„¢, which will be used in the development of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords from Obsidian Entertainment and LucasArts.
