Danny DeCillis is a humorless science writer by day who has been writing humor by night for various internet publications since 2003, usually under a pen name. His work on the Watley Review has been called "Literate, smart-assed, sarcastic and gut-bustingly funny" and "wondrous and beautifully crafted". Writing the Review also gave Danny lots of practice speaking about himself in the third person. He has been the head honcho for the humor writer network HumorFeed since 2004 and ran the annual Satire News Competition from 2005-2009, in which a panel of prominent journalists selected the humor story of the year. He's also the founding editor of Check Please!, a journal dedicated to the intersection of humor, satire, journalism, and the web. He's probably also got another humor site out there under yet another pen name that he hasn't revealed to anyone.
Big Bad Overlord was a project from many years ago which he recently resurrected. Overlord was originally created in the late 1980s (using hand-cut cards and a photocopier), one of several game prototypes Danny developed instead of doing his French homework in college. The game got plenty of playtesting for three years, before being packed away so he could get on with his adult life. Only recently did Danny realize that Photoshop, on-demand printing, and the crowdfunding community could help to realize his long-dormant dream of publishing something truly silly about monsters and mayhem, and perhaps even being paid for it.
The game is the inaugural product for Big Bad Ideas LLC. Danny plans to launch several other games through BBI. Only time will tell whether or not this is a good idea.
