Description

MAINLINE Magazine, by TraXX, is a semi-annual magazine which brings a unique mixture of railroad-themed board gaming action and historical information to the train gaming community. Each issue features a theme which is reflected in the games and historical information contained within.

The theme of Volume 1 Issue 1 is the Milwaukee Road’s famous and historically significant Hiawatha. Highlights of this issue include:

Historical Content

To introduce you to the five Hiawatha routes, TraXX collaborated with the Milwaukee Road Historical Association to bring accurate, interesting historical content to our readers regarding these great trains!

Four Magazine Games

Each of the games included reflect the Hiawatha theme. Our magazine games provide you with new rules and maps to pair with the components of common railroad board games. Will I need to cut components out of my magazine, ruining it? No, the maps and any additional components are packaged separately from the magazine. The games in this issue of MAINLINE are:

18 Hiawatha

An 1817 variant that is “short”, if you know what we mean. Played in the small area between Chicago and Milwaukee, you can expect tight competition on the map as well as in the stock market. You will need a copy of 1817 to play 18 Hiawatha.

Hiawatha Gauge

An Irish Gauge variant depicting the creation of the route of the famous Twin Cities Hiawatha and the competition between the Milwaukee Road and its competitors. You will need a copy of Irish Gauge to play Hiawatha Gauge.

The Hiawathas

An 1830 variant on a very small map. In this game, you draw your track on the map with a pen. You can even draw double track to get your trains running more profitably. You will need a copy of 1830 to play The Hiawathas. You can laminate the map and use wet/dry erase pens, or photocopy the map for your own use.

18 Milwaukee

Beer and the Hiawathas made Milwaukee famous. Milwaukee was the pivot point in four of the five Hiawatha routes. Players own breweries as well as railroad companies and delivering shipping beer adds good revenue. But, the landscape can change and new towns can spring up and lengthen your routes. You will need a copy of 1846 to play 18 Milwaukee.
