Description

The creation of Erik Olofsson and Nickolas Reynolds, Sorcery: Contested Realm is a boutique gaming experience that features the finest hand painted art from the biggest names in the industry.

The 'kitchen table' game sensibilities belie the much deeper complex and engaging gameplay pulling from a card pool over 400 distinct cards. Each game is as much a narrative experience you can share with friends, as it is a battle for tactical supremacy.

Two players take the roles of Avatars, assemble their own decks, and then cast a variety of elemental spells, summon powerful minions, and shape the world around them from their Atlas to increase their dominance and ultimately banish their foe.

Sorcery: Contested Realm is played on a 5 x 4 grid that represents "The Realm", and each player increases their territory by playing cards from their customized Atlas Deck. These sites are in turn populated with minions to strategically defend your sites and attack those of your opponent.

Each Avatar invokes the power of the four elements (Earth, Fire, Water, Wind) by playing cards from their Spellbook which contains elemental Spells, fantastical Minions, persistent Auras, and even rare Relics which can turn the tide of battle.

Sorcery: Contested Realm is a retro card game with modern design sensibilities. They have lovingly crafted each card using a “top-down” design where the name, art, and rules are clear, memorable and designed to give you flavor chills. While the cards are simple and intuitive, the interactions they create on the playing field lead to dynamic and deep gameplay.

While minions and spells are the primary means of aggression, sites themselves can have powerful effects on the game. A Maelström site played at the right moment can cause seismic disarray among your opponent's minions, while the Cloud City can silently drift right past their defenses.

Creating a vibrant world would not be possible without them first assembling a world class roster of the most well known and visionary fantasy artists, veteran card game artists, metal album cover artists, card alter artists and many talented up-and-coming artists from around the world.

One of their leading fan sites, Collector Arthouse, has built an extensive library of the artwork, bios and interviews with their art team.

Each illustration was hand painted using traditional techniques. The art in Sorcery: Contested Realm is designed to be eye-catching and instantly recognizable across the room. The artists retain copyright of their own work, which means they are free to create and sell art prints and their own play mats.

Preconstructed Beta decks offer an entry point into the world of Sorcery so you'll quickly jump into a game with friends and experience Sorcery: Contested Realm without the need to construct your deck first.
