Description

>DESIGNED FOR WAR

>YOU ARE ON OPPOSITE SIDES

>YOU HAVE FALLEN IN LOVE

You are a killer robot stationed on the moon of Ahava, covered in a dense radiation field. The only way you have to get a message to your secret girlfriend and fellow killer robot is to send them a message inscribed in a missile. Time to fire...

>LOVE CONQUERS ALL

>AND YOU WERE MADE TO CONQUER

No Love's Land is a 2-player LARP of throwing paper notes across a room to represent your robots sending love notes on their munition exchanges. A LARP is like a tabletop role playing game but, instead of sitting down, you evoke the motions of your character by moving around in a space.

The game is played using an entire room to represent the moon of Ahava, complete with temporarily repurposing the furniture. Each player starts by creating one of the robot girlfriends, defining things about their character and where they are from. Then they use the furniture available in the room to create two pillowfort bunkers, and begin writing love notes to each other. They physically throw the notes back and forth to represent the firing of missiles.

As more and more notes get passed, the characters start to overcome the subroutines which would have forced their mutual destruction. This allows them to come closer and closer together, and the game ends when they embrace.

No Love's Land can be played with a facilitator to help organize the flow of play, but that's not necessary. This zine includes rules for playing both with and without a facilitator.
