Description

Warlords of Gavardia is an Epic-Scale Setting designed for Adventurer Conqueror King System Imperial Imprint (ACKS-II). This is a player reference that provides the information necessary to make critical high-level game decisions; such as travel, trade, or domain management.

This 9800-hex setting is designed to support campaigns at all levels:
- Four vast border regions ripe for exploration by Adventurers. Venture forth to name uncharted islands, lakes, rivers, forests, and mountains.
- A dynamic but over-extended empire of 17 provinces packed with noble domains that can take advantage of that instability to wage war. Choose from hundreds of noble families and jump right into domain management.
- Multiple provincial types (Imperial, Vassal, Tributary, Maritime, Mercantile, and Colonial) that could begin play governed by ambitious players that must hold them together through the chaos.
- Conquer and integrate barbarian cities. Drive away migratory hordes and seize territory for growth. Subdue beastmen and troublesome elves. Seize dwarven mines. Raid halfling shires.
- Rise up to be elected Corono (the crown) by the nobility using any means necessary: military glory, deception, economic power, or political intrigue.

The setting contains:
- A unique political model that blends governance ideas from frequently overlooked historical powers like Venice, Pheonicia, Carthage, and the Papacy.
- A monotheistic religion with military and hospitaller orders, concepts of dominion and holy war, a code of life/ethics, religious law, pilgrimages, funerary rites, and more.
- An annual cycle of festivals and activities, each of which comes with moral, religious, and civic obligations.
- A caste system with progressive advancement through merit from war prisoners to colonist to peasant and beyond through exceptional service.
- A unique form of gladiatorial combat fought to earn freedom as a citizen.
- A civilizational growth model from border villages to consecrated town forums around blessed meteorites to grand cities centered around enchanted conclave stones.
- Overarching Imperial social/cultural conventions intersecting with distinct provincial customs.
- 21 active languages inside and outside of the Empire with percentage distributions by province.
- A historical brief showing major Imperial expansion milestones and changes over the past three hundred years.
- 13 potential destablizing forces for the Judge and players to push/pull and cause massive political shifts.
- Breakdowns of all 17 provinces by architectural standards, unique cultural elements, standards of dress, cuisine, and unique security threats.
- A detailed Imperial census of 4.2 million souls; showing every domain's family population, land value, morale, and market class.
- Market Data on the 100 largest cities in the Empire with supply & demand modifiers on all 29 types of merchandise to aid in planning long-distance trade ventures.
- Room on the map for placement of almost any supplemental modules or ideas; including merfolk dominions, vast wilderness areas, unsettled islands, and the rolling sands of the great desert known as the Sand Furnace.
