Description

Since 1945, France has fought fiercely against the Viet-Minh to keep Indochina, one of its oldest colonies on the Asian continent. At the beginning of 1954, all seemed lost for the French. Negotiations must also open in Geneva....

But the situation on the ground can weigh heavily in the discussion. This is why General Navarre, Commander-in-Chief in Indochina, decided to reoccupy the Diên-Biên-Phu plain, endowed with a valuable airstrip, to demonstrate that the French army still technically dominates its adversary. .

Viet-Minh units arrive in force and surround the entrenched camp. On March 13, 1954, they launched the first in a long series of offensives which would make the Battle of Diên-Biên-Phu one of the fiercest and most atrocious of the Indochina War. The outcome of this long confrontation depends on the political and logistical support that the French forces can benefit from. They still need to succeed in convincing the “politicians” of the metropolis that air aid can really change everything. Could France have won the Battle of Diên Bien-Phu?

Without a doubt. But to be sure, immerse yourself in the real situation and relive, on the French or Viet-Minh side, all the political and operational aspects of the confrontation.

Diên Bien-Phu is an easy-to-understand historical simulation game, with complete and clear rules, designed to help you discover all the aspects of a situation full of suspense and whose outcome depends on your skills as a strategist and tactician. Artillery fire, attacks by armored vehicles, coups, supply problems, air support, troop morale, etc., no aspect of the battle was forgotten. And, so as not to neglect the political importance of the battles, an original system of "political points" is offered to you to redefine, at each turn, the situation of the player who commands the French forces.

The game box contains a strong glossy paper map accurately representing the battlefield, two sheets of pre-cut counters, an 8-page rule booklet, a die and a tray of lidded storage compartments.

A game is played by two people (but it is also possible to play alone) and lasts approximately two hours. It is not essential to have already played a historical simulation game to play Diên-Biên-Phu.
