Description

The previous two volumes of Refighting History dealt with the War of the Austrian Succession. Volume Four returns to the Seven Years War. The battles covered are all from the year 1760. Some are major battles. These are Liegnitz, Strehla and Torgau. In addition two actions have been selected from the western theatre. For those unfamiliar with the latter, while the campaigns in the east involve Prussian, Austria and Russia, those in the west provide an interesting variation. With France as the main protagonist we find the Prussians allied with Britain, Hanover and Hesse under the command of Ferdinand of Brunswick, nephew of Frederick the Great. I have picked two actions for this volume, Corbach and Emsdorf, and more will follow in future volumes.

Whether the battles are large or small each presents the reader with the background to the battle, an account of the action, considerations on how to best wargame it and finally an account of the game itself.
