Description

One of the most classic games of military strategy.

One of the most crucial wars in the history of our nation.

One of the most discerning manufacturers of luxury goods in the world.

The product of this confluence is the game you now see before you, a truly exquisite edition of Stratego featuring the powers and personalities of the bloodiest conflict on American soil: The American Civil War. Franklin Mint produced a paltry 30 copies of this superb rendition of the Milton Bradley classic. The copies that exist were produced for display in retail stores, theoretically heralding a release to the general public, however a licensing deal broke down between Milton Bradley and Franklin Mint and the project was scrapped. Those original display versions are all that remain, and the item listed here is one of those lucky few.

The gameboard is fashioned from mahogany-stained hardwood set with a glass play surface which encapsulates a miniature rendition of a civil war battlefield complete with a mirror edge, and gold features like a cannon, mortar and palisade. The board measures 19.25" on a side and two opposed edges open to reveal a fabric lined drawer containing the die-cast playing pieces, plated in silver for the Confederacy and 24k gold for the Union respectively. Each piece bears the likeness of an important Civil War historical figure from the presidents of a nation divided, Lincoln and Davis, their premier generals Grant and Lee, and a host of other military personae to fil the remaining roster. The board comes with a rulebook featuring commentary and historical background on the conflict as well as a certificate of authenticity.

This particular copy does bear superficial damage to much of its surface in the form of small scracthes and dents, while they are not clear from a distance, close observation will reveal many of them across it ssurfaces. If you would like further explaination or pictures of this damage please contact us and we are happy to provide it.

These games are extraordinarily rare being sought after by history loves and board game enthusiasts with equal zeal. Secure your chance to own this world-renowned treasure while the opportunity remains!
