Description

The chance Vought Corsair was originally designed to meet a U.S. Navy specification issued in 1938 for fast carrier-borne single-seat fighter. Using the world’s most powerful air-cooled radial engine driving the largest propeller ever used on a fighter, the inverted gull wing design was adopted to give sufficient ground clearance, improved aerodynamics, and excellent visibility for the pilot.

The final variant of the Corsair was the F4U-7, which was basically a F4U-4 engine in an AU-1 airframe optimized for the ground attack role; 94 were exclusively for the French Navy’s Aeronavale for use in IndoChina (Vietnam).

Models & Model Kits are supplied unpainted and unassembled unless otherwise noted.
