Description

No Time for Prayer details the battles for the port and city of New Orleans; Head of Passes and Forts Jackson and St. Philip. The battles to take control of New Orleans were not easy ones. Can you do as well or better than your historical counterpart?

Battle of the Head of Passes – A Union blockade was set up shortly after the start of the war. On October 12, 1861 the Confederate “Mosquito Fleet” sortied from New Orleans to take on the Union squadron stationed at the Head of Passes entrance to the Mississippi River delta. One of the first large scale naval battles of the war ensued.

The Battle of Forts Jackson and St. Philip was the decisive battle for possession of New Orleans in the American Civil War. As long as the forts could keep the Federal forces from moving on the city, it was safe, but if not, there were no positions to impede the Union advance. The battle was a mostly-ineffective bombardment of the Confederate-held forts by the raft-mounted mortars, and then the successful passage of the forts by much of Farragut’s fleet in the night.
