Description

Big league baseball of the 1930s comes alive on your game table with the 1935 Pro Season card set for HISTORY MAKER BASEBALL Big League Baseball board game!

With the depression dragging on into the mid-1930s, Americans continued to turn to big league baseball as an escape. The '35 season delivered plenty of drama and excitement, starting in February when New York stunned fans with the announcement of the release of “The Babe.” He later signed with one of the Boston clubs, and although his best days were behind him, he did hit three homers in the same game (vs. Pittsburgh, 5/25).

1935 featured the first night game in league history, at Crosley Field in Cincinnati. As the season unfolded, the ball club housed at Chicago’s Wrigley Field earned its league’s title, outlasting its rivals from St. Louis. Chicago faced off against Detroit for the world championship series. Detroit won the series in six games, earning its first-ever title. Pittsburgh’s Vaughan won the batting title with a .385 average, while Detroit’s MVP (and future HOF) first baseman led in home runs (36) and RBI (170).

The 1935 season is our first-ever card set from the ‘30s, and as such includes suggested delta and sigma ratings to even better re-create the nuances of the game from that era, along with suggested batting orders and umpire cards.
