Description

Fighting the Islamic State is intended to show why the war in Iraq and Syria is causing so many refugees, who is fighting and why, and what outcomes may occur. The game covers the period 2014-2017.

Units are included for ISIS, the Syrian Regime, the Syrian rebels, the Kurds, the Iraqis, the Iranians (including Hezbollah and the Shi’a militia), the Russians, the Turks, the USA, and the Coalition partners. Dice are used in this game for combat, but the CRT is not typical. Losses are light, and often what matters more are the consequences of combat. Religion and ethnicity play a big role in combat. Cards are used to conduct actions, and the player with momentum gets an extra one.

Turns are two months. The game takes 4 or more hours to play. For 2-6 players, and plays best with at least 3.
