Description

From the preface: "In the absence of a history in English on the subject, no means are available for the layman to appreciate just how and why the Japanese forces waged the battle, and in what way Japanese soldiers died. It is quite unreasonable for us to seek cooperation and friendship from the Papua New Guinean people without the means to get their understanding of such a situation. The greatest and nearly sold object of this venture is to have the Papua New Guinean people appreciate the many memories of the operations in the Papua New Guinean Theater, which many Japanese still embrace at the bottom of their hearts."

The author is one of the Japanese survivors of the New Guinean Campaign.
