Description

Product produced by 4Ground Publishing.

This kit contains 1 Anglo-Saxon style Cruck Frame House

These buildings are based on the Cruck frames commonly found in Anglo-Saxon houses. They could be found all throughout the period of the Norman Conquest and the Barons’ War, all the way up through the English Civil War and the Monmouth Rebellion.

Crucks are formed using two curved timbers, often halved, to form a stable frame, upon which further construction could continue.

‘Wilfred and his kin live on a relatively large plot of land. His house has been extended twice to account for his cousin’s family moving in to live with him. He is employed as the village’s Hayward, tending to hedges and fences on property borders, and his cousin Cuthbert acts as a Pinder, rounding up stray animals from the area.’
