Description

Long before Dale Earnhardt thrilled spectators at Daytona or Bill Elliot set speed records at Talladega, there was a group of elite drivers who tested the limits of both man and machine. They were outlaws, yet they were the pioneers of American auto racing.

In 1919, when America prohibited alcoholic beverages, an illegal industry arose and with it the beginnings of the modern-day auto racer. Illegal distilleries began to flourish and they depended on the bootlegger to deliver their product. The whiskey runners learned quickly how to modify their rigs for speed and developed the driving skills needed to stay one step ahead of the law. Years after prohibition was repealed, the racing exploits of these skilled drivers were passed on to young racing fans, from which springs the inspiration of the Raceway 57 game.

This special edition comes all packed in a fold out board, all part of the solid wood box. It includes metal cars and resource tracking boards on stamped tin sheets, marked with magnets. Players race using custom cards and dice.
