Description

The HAL9000 became operational in 1991, at the HAL Laboratories in Urbana, Illinois, where he first achieved consciousness. HAL is a sentient “learning” computer, able to reason, interpret human behavior, make informed decisions and communicate verbally. HAL9000 is ultimately installed as the onboard computer on the Discovery X-Ray Delta One, a deep space exploratory craft, where, with the assistance from crew members Frank Poole and David Bowman, he controls the entire ship.

When a monolithic object of extraterrestrial origin is discovered in orbit around Jupiter, the Discovery is sent to investigate and collect data related to the mysterious artifact. Due to conflicting information in his mission programming, the HAL9000 malfunctions, becomes paranoid, and kills all of the crew except for Commander David Bowman, who manages to survive by removing HAL’s core memory banks. Yet the mystery of the monolith remains, and Davis Bowman is about to take the trip of his life.

Moebius Models’ 1/1 scale model of HAL9000 is a precision tooled styrene kit of cinema’s most famous artificial intelligence. 14 inches tall fully assembled, the kit includes a display stand and features a light up LED eye.

Skill level 3 (experienced model builders).

Miniatures are supplied unpainted and some assembly may be required.
