Leopard 2A6

The Bundeswehr is currently fielding the potent Leopard 2A6 in its panzertruppe. The Leopard 2A6 is a result of two separate combat improvement programs. The KWS I focused on increasing firepower by the integration of the new, longer L55 gun barrel. The Leopard 2A6 will equip many European tank battalions as well in future.

The 54th Engineer Battalion (C) (M) 'Dagger" Battalion

Today's engineer battalion is equipped with remote controlled mine-detecting and clearing vehicles, armored vehicle launched bridges, dump trucks, armored earthmovers, and rocket-propelled explosive line charges to name just a few. The 54th Engineer Battalion was attached to the 3rd Infantry Division while in Iraq.

M1 Panther II Mine Detection and Clearing Vehicle

The US Army Employed the old IP M1 Abrams hulls for the production of the M1 Panther for mine detection and clearing purposes. Both the Mine Clearing Blade (MCB) and the Mine Clearing Roller (MCR) can be attached to the Panther II. With the Panther II, the US Engineers received the first tank specially built to detect and clear mines.
