Although the malevolent empire of Acheron collapsed under the blows of Hyborian barbarians some three thousand years before the Age of Conan, the sinister cult of Set, has survived. The Archdemon once constricted the world like a python and strode across the earth in human form, but much of its power and influence have since been forgotten. The cult of Set, though weakened and banished from the kingdoms founded by the Hyborian tribes, perpetuated itself in the Ancient kingdom of Stygia, where the Great Serpent still reigns. It is said it prowls in the shadows of mysterious temples, waiting to once again grip the world beneath its scales.
