Description

Pictures shown are of the item you will receive.

You did read the title correctly, this jewel of a collectible is a 1st edition, 2nd printing copy of the original fantasy roleplaying game: Dungeons & Dragons.

Only about 1000 were reported to have been produced after the runaway success of the 1st printing. This version features the 1975 box with vertical wood striations and all the books are clearly labeled on their inner covers with a printing notice identifying it as a second printing. All the classic elements that a collector wants to see are here, the bandit-like appropriation of Hobbits and Ents seen on page 9 of the Men and Magic book and the cover and the image of the warrior on horseback that "paid homage" to Doctor Strange #167. All the history is there, all the interest and intrigue of the game's beginning.

Condition Notes:

Box - Fair – The box is in Fair condition with multiple torn out corners, tears from removing tape, wear marks along all edges and a split along an entire bottom edge of the box. The cover sheet has correction fluid or white paint covering up a name.

Book #1 - Fair+ – This volume has the typical scuffing and small stains so often found on these books and a dent in the upper right corner. However, it also has white paint or correction fluid covering up a name on the inside cover. Additionally, the center pages (17-20) are loose from the staples, but included.

Book #2 - VG – Much like the first volume, this book has some scuffing and a few small stains on the cover, as well as the dent in the upper right. It features a similar amount of white paint or correction fluid on the inside cover to blot out a name. Despite its light staple rust, all pages remain bound together.

Book #3 – VG+ – Just as with the first two books, this one has a name marked out with white paint or correction fluid; however, the scuffing and staining is minimal, the dent in the upper right corner is much less noticeable, and there are no loose pages.

Reference Sheets - Fair+ - The reference sheets in this copy are stained throughout, with one page being stained by a marker dot.

While the condition is while this condition shows a well played sett, this item’s rarity more than makes up for it shortcomings. With each passing year, this item only becomes rarer, so seize the opportunity to make it your own now, lest the chance of a lifetime pass you by…
