Description

When the First World War ended, a new war began in Eastern Europe. Bolshevik Russia marched west to bring the communist revolution to all Europe. Newborn Poland, which had just gained independence after 123 years of captivity, was its first target. The war started on the 4th of January 1919, when the Russians captured Wilnus. Poles were already fighting against the Czechs and Ukrainians for the final shape of its borders and was holding a referendum campaign in Selesia. Weakened by the casualties of the Great6 War but finally free, the Poles were not eager to be slaves again. They fought the war and won, stopping the communist outburst near Warsaw in one of the most important battles of history.
