Description

Every war has its turning points, most often associated with great battles in which the victor has suffered a shame. It was not El-Alamein.

German troops attacking Libya after several battles and raids reached the front of Cairo. Their possible success would mean the need to withdraw from Egypt or fight on the Nile. This second prospect, with thinness, seemed unrealistic. It was therefore best to place the meal in the most comfortable place. For this purpose, the area around the small El-Alamein railway station and the area south of it was selected for Quatar Depression. The accident was not accidental - it was a place where the distance from the sea to depression was the smallest (about 85 km) and bypassing this position was not possible. The Germans had to attack it frontally. The only problem could be almost completely unprepared defensive positions.

To remedy this, in June, the post offices began to build a system of barbed wire and shafts around El-Alamein, further works were built in the south and as independent points of resistance on the defensive of the hills. In the meantime, these independent points of resistance were intended to be combined into one system. But the German offensive was so fast that the work was not finished.

So you can say that both sides have entered the battle of the march, except that the Allies did not have to carry out offensive activities - they were enough waiting and local counterattack. Germany had to cross the front. Any stabilization of the front was not entirely on their hands. That would go to their coffin. They knew of the overwhelming allied meals.

So they decided to attack immediately.

Ruweysat Battle of the Hill - Attack from the march had many benefits such as the surprise of the direction and movement of the troops, but had one weakness - lack of knowledge of opponent. And if that was not so important when fighting with the weakest enemy, in this case it was called the organized defense system manned anti-armor artillery and armored.

The main blow was made between Germany and the Ruins of the Ruins. The auxiliary collisions are on El-Alamein and south of the Ruweysat. The plan is not complicated - it involves the Allies and forcing them to retreat. With the only way to keep the communication paths in good order - and that proved to be very difficult, as the infantry divisions did not keep up with the pace of the infantry divisions march. Significant allies organized some serious counterattacks on the wingers, forcing them to regroup and lose time. After three days of fighting, the Germans withdrew to the west and occupied positions in the occupied areas.

For two months on the African front, peace was interrupted only by local clashes. Both sides were preparing for a decisive clash.
