Description

The last act of the Second World War in Europe was the storming of Berlin. The operation to destroy the German army began April 16th hitting two Soviet fronts. On the south by Cottbus and Bautzen rubbed 1st Ukrainian Front Marshal Konev and directly from the east - Berlin, attacked army 1st Belorussian Front Marshal Zhukov. The Red Army had overwhelming superiority in every respect. But the battle was neither easy nor fast. Germany did everything they could to inflict the most loss of progress.

Within 17 days, until the surrender of the Odra River and in eastern Germany over 360,000 Soviet soldiers were killed, which gives the daily loss of 21,200 soldiers. In the battles for Berlin participated the first Polish Army, whose task was to lap the city from the north and protect from that direction before the expected German counter-strike.

Berlin 1945 shows the impact of the Soviet 1st Belorussian Front. The advantage held on this stretch by the Soviets should not lull advancing. Germany prepared to defend and they are still dangerous. Losses incurred by the Soviets may be so severe that the offensive could no longer get stuck in the hills near Seelow.
