Description

Türkenkrieg is an operational study of an almost unknown Balkan war between Austria and Turkey - more accurately, between the Holy Roman Empire and the Ottoman Empire. The war should be better known than it is, for it weakened Austria to the point that Frederick the Great, and others, believed they could destroy her, bringing on first the War of the Austrian Succession, and then the Seven Years War. Coerced into war as an ally of Russia, the Austrians soon lost the initiative, yet held on grimly for three years, until mismanagement and a crippling outbreak of plague led them to the peace table. On the other side, though successful on the Danube, the Turks purchased a victory at a price they could not afford; it would be their last.

The game, a 2-player operational study, uses the Lace Wars system. As with the other games in the series, victory is a personal matter. Can YOU win enough Prestige to impress your imperial master? Or will you lose your head? Whatever the outcome of the war, your career must not suffer!
