Khe Sanh

Officially, the battle of Khe Sanh was never a siege. But for the 6,000 Marines holed up on the remote rust-red plateau and cut off from the rest of the world, it felt like a siege. For 77 long days and nights, without adequate supplies of water and ammunition, they clung on and waited. In the White House an anxious president daily studied situation reports and declared that Khe Sanh must not fall. It didn't. But the defense of Khe Sanh became one of the most controversial actions of the war.
