Description

The Planescape Sketchbook was produced as a conceptual item in a fashion that is commonly done for movies. It has many sketches and notes throughout the book explaining the process of putting together what was, at the time, just the idea of the Planescape Campaign setting. These books were produced to be sold at GenCon and Euro-GenCon where Dana was available to autograph them. According to Dana Knutson, a very limited number of these were sold (approximately 80).

This copy is an author's original copy that is not only autographed but has an original hand inked piece of art drawn on the insider cover! The cover has a few small creases along its spine and a moderate amount of shelf wear. the pages are all crisp, clean, and show no appreciable sings of wear.

Directly from the artist, Dana Knutson:

"My cousin was over the 4th of July and he was helping me clean out some stuff in my mother's basement where I came across a couple of Planescape Sketchbooks. I did a sketch in each and signed them...the sketchbooks came about after I was hired by TSR to concept their new world they were creating called Planescape. TSR considered me one of their illustrators and normally they had the illustrators sell prints of their work at conventions like Gen Con. Since I had done no paintings to have prints made, I put together all my sketches for Planescape in a small book form. Can't remember how many I had made but I know it wasn't a lot. The sketchbook was done in either in 1993 or 94, and the Planescape project itself still remains one of the best projects I ever worked on."

This item is an incredibly rare piece of TSR history.
