Engineer Support Platoon

When the Germans attacked, the men of the 1111th Engineer Group were the backstop of the American lines. Once through the 106th and 99th Infantry Divisions, the Germans ran head-long into the many engineer roadblocks.

The combat engineers of the 1111th Engineer Combat Group found themselves to be the only thing standing between SS-Kampfgruppe Peiper and the Meuse River. To help man the defenses, Colonel Pergrin’s 291st Combat Engineers shifted all of A Company’s bazookas to Malmédy to add more anti-tank capability to the anti-tank guns acquired from retreating infantry.

The Engineer Support Platoon provides the heavy lifting that an Engineer Combat Platoon requires with three 2 ½-ton dump trucks, one pioneer supply 2 ½-ton truck, and one D7 bulldozer.
