Description

During Cadwallon ap Cadfan's time, a time of strife and conquest with the Anglians of Northumbria, the wyveres of Ceredigion were scorned by the Brythons as poor cousins of the dragons, far less intelligent and powerful and much less useful as beasts of war. Smaller, two-legged where the dragons have four and unable to set their enemies aflame, the wyveres were simply ugly and wild and monstrous, feared and vilified in equal measure as other ignoble creatures are, their history forgotten and their trust lost. It has taken the near-extinction of the dragons and their kin to prompt the Brythons' memories, to remember their ancestors' work with the wyveres, what they called the gwyferns, and of course the reign of Cadwaladr, who began to seek out the wocors and the gwyferns as part of his forsworn duty to reclaim the lost lands to the east and the north. For their part, the gwyferns - Typhaggahw first among them - recognized their ancient pact with the Brythons as soon as Cadwaladr found the strength to speak the matter of it, for their lives are long and their memories longer, and although it has taken a length of time to persuade the men of Gwynedd to believe in the gwyferns once more Typhaggahw's presence upon the fields of battle alone and the effect he has had upon the enemies of the Brythons - enemies who thought their monstrous allies had waned - has ensured the gwyferns are no longer in the shadows of the dragons.

Miniatures are supplied unpainted and assembly may be required.
