Description

There was little battles in the September campaign, which could decide the course of the war. Surely, they must be included: Bzura, defense and combat Narew around Piotrkow Trybunalski. The game, which lets you hold in your hands playing the hostilities between the state border and the river Pilica. This is where Germany led to the attack his main force, ie 8th and 10 Army. Their goal was a direct line of Warsaw and the Vistula. On their way, the compounds were Army Lodz, Krakow (Cracow seventh DP and AB), and Prussia. Their task was to stop the enemy as long as possible and delaying his march into the country, thus giving time for the mobilization and concentration Reserves.

Polish forces were not numerous enough to be able to effectively carry out defensive operations, and after a short battle frontier were forced to retreat to the line of the River Warta and Widawka, revealing the same direction to the east. In order to eliminate the threat to Army units entered combat Prussia, but they proved too weak and largely led disastrously and were destroyed in a two-day battle of Tomaszów Mazowiecki, and Piotrków.

But do we have to be? The potential quantity of Polish troops, in their reasonable arrangement and the creation of a strong odwodu allow for planning much more effective defense, and it is not a definitive stop the German troops but their the longest delay. Could be a time of Poznan and Pomerania armies to regroup in the environs of Warsaw and eventually allow their support for Army troops retreating BOAT. Would suffice for two or three days to plan became reality.

What are the arguments for the fact that this possibility existed? There are a few, first into the - cut by numerous rivers and forests, created the position of permanent field fortifications (Warta Widawka), the possibility of a concentration nowoprzybywajacych Reserves (2, 44 DP, Kresowa BK). Well, the Army and the participation of Prussia, which is on a narrow section of the front had three divisions of infantry, cavalry brigade and two battalions of light tanks. Their proper organization in the field (quite contrary to the story) certainly make it easier for success.

And the only question. Is it possible to win the Poles in this section of the front?
