The rules for sieges are designed for fighting out the concluding stages of a siege on the tabletop using all the engines of war of the day including siege cannons, trebuchet, siege towers and battering rams. Fortifications and counter-works are covered in some depth with rules for siege-craft prior to the battle taking the form of pre-game engineering and construction - including such things as siege towers, defensive hoardings, counter-mines, and so forth. Combat within and around fortresses using mobile siege towers, scaling ladders and battering rams is all described in detail. Suitable rules are provided for fighting from towers and ramparts as well as around gateways and breaches. Outbreaks of plague, tunneling, relief forces, civic unrest and other elements are covered as randomly determined events. The efforts of spies, saboteurs and other miscreants are similarly provided for with a special treachery chart.
