Description

Castles, Cogs & Chevauchées is three rule sets in one, expanding the capabilities of Knights & Knaves, letting you simulate all aspects of Medieval warfare in a skirmish setting. Set up your own dukedom, raise a navy, besiege enemy strongholds. Or simulate the events of the Crusades or Viking eras. Using the same systems as K&K, Castles, Cogs & Chevauchées enables you to create myriad skirmish scenarios, all arising from realistic Medieval settings.
Castles: Conduct an entire siege, not just an assault. Sieges were operational endeavors, consisting of little fights, bombardment, mining, blockade, etc., over a period of weeks or months. Castles lets you conduct an entire siege, complete with period weapons and tactics. Using a unique turn concept, operational aspect of the siege are handled quickly and realistically, while players can recreate the numerous skirmishes that attended these affairs -- sortie to destroy a trebuchet, storm a breach, even fight in mines. In fact, Castles lets you create more, and more varied, skirmishes than you're likely to dream up on your own. And it uses the same mechanics as K&K, so moving from operations into skirmishes is nearly seamless. The rules include two color maps, and an extra set of maps is available free to anyone who buys a copy of the rules.

Cogs: Simple rules for ship-board combat. Launch Viking raids, or employ ships in a siege, as the Crusaders did at Acre, or refight the ship-to-ship duels of the Hundred Years War. Cogs keeps the mechanics of sailing simple, so you can concentrate on leading your men. Designed to interface smoothly with K&K, Cogs adds the flavor of naval combat to your Medieval gaming.

Chevauchées: The ultimate skirmish scenario generator. The bad thing about skirmish gaming is that after awhile you run out of ideas for new scenarios. Chevauchées generates an endless variety of scenarios, all within realistic setting -- ones you create. You take command of a principality, Viking tribe or Crusader army. Using simple systems, you manage resources, raise troops and make war. Chevauchées includes two color maps on which you plot maneuvers, giving rise to sieges or skirmishes.
