Description

On the sixth of August, 1777, 760 men of the patriotic Tryon County Militia, allied with sixty Oneida Indian warriors, marched into a wilderness ravine in upstate New York. The militia was marching to the relief of the besieged Fort Stanwix. At this place, waiting in ambush, was a mixed force of 700 Iroquois warriors, Tory rangers, and a detachment of the King's Royal Regiment of New York.

As a result of this pivotal engagement in the American War for Independence, the ground called Oriskany was forever sealed in the annals of United States history. Now you can re-enact the bloodiest battle of the American Revolution.
