Description

Please note that this is a DTP (Desk Top Publishing) game designed on a desktop computer and all components, including the counters which will have to be cut and mounted, are printed on paper. These are designed by some very well-known designers and are a low cost alternative to today's professionally produced games. On rare occasions, some of these games are reproduced by other companies with higher quality components including die-cut counters but most of them are not. If you believe this game to have a professionally produced version, please contact us with your inquiry and we will help you to locate it if it does indeed exist.

Highlander is a game covering two of the battles in the aborted attempt by Bonnie Prince Charlie, last of the viable Stuarts, to wrest the English throne from the Hanoverians in what is known as the '45 (The Rebellion of 1745). The two battles focus on the strength of the Highlander charge and how its effect could be countered by disciplined regulars. Highlander is a fast-playing game of low-to-moderate complexity. To that end, much detail has been factored into the mechanics.

Using the same system as BSO's Marlborough, this game covers the successful Highlander charge at Battle of Prestonpans and the unsuccessful charge at Battle of Culloden. 50 yards/hex, 100 men/strength point, no turns in the usual sense. 17x22 inch game map in two sections, 210 mount-and-cut counters.
