Iberos - Overlords of the Ancient Peninsula

Year 237 BC. Carthague, after its defeat in the I Punic War against Rome and the Iberian rebellion that had nearly expelled them completely from Iberia, sends a small army led by Hamilkar to reconquest that province. Within few years, that army had managed to reconquer the lost colonies and to add new territories to compensate the colonies lost in the Mediterranean. From these new colonies Carthage planned to reprend the war against Rome. Then, in 218 BC, after the fall of Saguntum, Hannibal crossed the Pyrenees and marched to Italy. Nevertheless, the Roman Senate decided to move the war to the enemy rearguard and sent an expeditionary force to Hispania. The Roman eagles had arrived to the peninsula for the first time, and they had arrived to stay...

Iberos is an strategic level simulation of the Ancient-era campaigns fought out in Iberia from 237 to 19 BC. It uses the same system to simulate two very different types of warfare: the campaigns between the regular armies of the powers of the age (Punic wars, Roman civil wars) and the Roman pacification and conquest campaigns. Each turn represent one year. During each turn players may use its armies to perform several operations: move, pillage territories, besiege cities, fight battles or ambush enemy forces. At the end of the turn, players must retreat to spend winter quarters. The key aspects of the system are: leader quality, logistics, diplomacy, and the guerrilla tactics used by the Iberian tribes.

Iberos includes 9 scenarios. Each scenario is a complete game that simulates one of the campaigns of the Ancient era, from the Punic reconquest of Iberia at the end of the III century BC to the Cantabrian wars of Caesar Augustus at the end of the I century BC.
