Sub Forms

The cat-and-mouse battle beneath the seas between submarines – or between submarines and their surface quarry- is the epitome of modern naval combat. The blanket of ocean conceals subs, but at the same time hides their quarry, and always interferes with the use of weapons. SUB FORMS is published to provide materials to make playing Harpoon easier. It does so by providing prepared submarine data sheets for use with the game.

Prepared SUB FORMS: Using Harpoon, any group of players can prepare and play almost any naval situation using the information in the Data Annex Book. Subs which are not rated in Annex A can be evaluated using Annex Q.

But filling out ship reference sheets can take time. Instead, ship reference sheets complete with information taken from the annexes are provided in this book. In the process of preparing the forms, it was determined that more information could be provided due to savings in space from typesetting. As a result, each sheet was crafted to provide as much game information as possible. A new format was established (designated Harpoon form 10) to include statistics, rules references, notes, and other information. For better visual references, both a side view, and an overhead deck plan view of the sub was incorporated into the form. Hit boxes to allow easy damage check-off were also included. The final product was intended to facilitate fast, easy-to-play Harpoon situations.

Harpoon is Required: In order to use SUB FORMS and to play Harpoon scenarios with SUB FORMS, a copy of the Harpoon modern naval wargame rules is required.
