SCOTTISH CORRIDOR—LION RAMPANT is a detailed new ATS system game that tells the story of the Battle of Epsom. Some histories pass over this battle as merely the second of Montgomery’s failed attempts to capture the key city of Caen. Increasingly, however, historians are recognizing the true meaning of the Epsom Offensive. This was the battle that thwarted Hitler’s plans to drive the invaders back into the sea. Hitler gathered the best of his remaining Panzer Divisions, hurling them against the three sides of the ‘Scottish Corridor’—and breaking them against the resistance offered by untried but heroic British troops. The beginning of ‘Epsom’ caught the Germans off balance. And kept them off balance until Hitler’s counter-offensive in Normandy was doomed.
