Description

Adwalton Moor - When Lord Fairfax, the Parliamentary commander, was informed that the Royalist army was marching in the direction of Bradford, he made the decision to assemble his army of 7,500 men and confront the Royalists in the open country.

Stratton - Stamford had his army assembled and began to move into Cornwall, he sent most of his cavalry on a diversionary raid to attack the Royalist garrison at Bodmin and prevent Hopton from drawing on the Bodmin garrison. The ploy seemed to work as Hopton was only able to assemble a Royalist force of 2,900 to counter Stamford's invasion force of 5,600.

Cropedy Bridge - Charles's army began marching north along the east side of the River Cherwell. Waller's forces proceeded to shadow the King's movements on the other side of the river. As they approached Cropredy, Charles ordered a small detachment of dragoons to seize the bridge over the Cherwell. Additional horsemen were approaching from the north to join Waller's army, and Charles ordered his army to hasten its march to cut off this detachment.
