Description

The USS Rasher was one of the top submarines of World War II. Among the 190 subs in the Pacific that saw combat, she ranked second in tonnage (99,901) and ninth in the number of ships sunk (18). On her fifth war patrol, skippered by Cdr. Henry G. Munson, she sank four ships and the escort aircraft carrier Taiyo. The Taiyo and three of those vessels were sunk off Luzon, the Philippines, in a single night surface action in August 1944.

This book covers nearly every facet of the Rasher's history, from her launching in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, through eight war patrols vividly described by Rasher crew members, to her postwar fate.
